Tamarind

Tamarind pods are the fruits of the tamarind tree, which grows throughout the subtropics. It grows in India on plantations. The seeds of the tamarind pods are shelled during a thermal process and then sorted by hand. A milling process produces tamarind gum, which Polygal AG uses in Switzerland to produce different kind of thickeners for textile printing. Tamarind gum contains the polysaccharide galactoxyloglucan.
